Trust is the most valuable asset a news organisation can hold. The Indian State News binds every staff member, freelancer, and contributor to this ethics code.
Gifts & hospitality
Reporters do not accept gifts, free travel, or significant hospitality from sources or organisations they cover. Token items (a pen, a calendar) are acceptable.
Bias
We strive to keep our coverage balanced. Opinion pieces are clearly labelled as opinion and are kept distinct from news reporting.
Privacy
We respect the privacy of private individuals and minors. We pixelate, blur, or withhold identifying details when there is no overriding public interest in disclosing them.
Verification
Images, video, and viral social media content are verified using reverse-image search and original-source checks before being published.
Reader trust
We respect our readers' time and intelligence. We don't use clickbait headlines, deceptive thumbnails, or hidden auto-play media.
